2003 RAFFLE GUN

September 10, 2001

A RUGER SUPER BLACKHAWK IN 44 MAGNUM

The American Pistolsmiths Guild 2003 raffle handgun will begin it's journey today. The following work sheet is being mailed to you ahead of time so you can fit the work into your schedule and be prepared to do your work when the revolver comes into your shop.

As always, time is critical in these projects and the logistics of carrying a project like this to a successful completion depends on how fast you can perform your work. The engraver must have the gun for the longest time and is next to last on the list to do his work. Please do not set the gun aside or in your regular schedule. The best way to handle it is to drop everything you are working on and get the Guild gun out quickly

When all the work is completed the gun will be shipped to Ichiro Nagata, probably the worlds finest firearms photographer, around November 2002, so he can shoot the photo that will appear in a four color two page spread in the American Handgunner magazine. The photo will show your work in great detail and will be worth approximately $12,000 in advertising. Along with the photo there will be a short description of the work you performed, your name, address and phone number. Over 200,000 handgun enthusiasts will see your work showcased in what is considered to be the finest, handguns only, publication in the world today.

When you have completed your work you can send a bill for your labor and any parts you have used to Jim Stroh at his address listed on the letterhead column on the left. Do not feel bashful about sending a bill for your work to Jim. The Guild raffle guns are an income generator for the American Pistolsmiths Guild and the price of your work and the gun itself is simply the cost of doing business . The pistol was purchased a wholesale and I do not ask for any donations per say, but if you would like to donate a small percentage of your labor in exchange for the advertising you are welcome to do that.

Remember, we are not selling a Ruger Super Blackhawk. We are selling the names of the some of the finest pistolsmiths, firearms engraver, leather craftsman and grip maker in the world and that is, with out a doubt, what the customer is buying.
